Wills/Bequests

Your WillPeople - Girl Face

It is important to keep a will not only for your piece of mind but also for that of your family. Keeping an up-to-date will avoid many unnessary problems for your family.   If you do not have a will your estate will be disturbed according to government regulations.

There are three major types of Bequests:

Specific - this is a bequest referring to a specific physical Item such as a car, furniture or house.
General - most often this bequest involves a sum of money or a percentage of value of an asset.
Residual - After Specific and General Bequests have been made you are left with a residual. The residual bequest contains the remaining value or assets after the specific and General Bequests have been transferred.

How would your Bequest impact on the lives of Indigenous families and communities?

Australia has many disadvantaged Indigenous children. Not only does your donation benefit children in these situations today it can impact whole communities for generations.

Preparing your will…

It is advisable to seek assistance from a qualified legal advisor when preparing your will. Your legal advisor will be able to both advise you on your bequest details and ensure you have all other important details such as family and tax matters accounted for. If you plan to leave a substantial proportion of you estate to Education Transformations it is important you prioritise your family and include them in your will. This will not only help prevent against any personal struggles but also could become important should anyone contest your will.
